How to import files into Procreate

If the files were downloaded to your computer:

You’ll first need to move them onto your iPad. There are two easy ways to do that. (If you download the files onto your iPad, you can skip ahead to the next section.)

Option 1: AirDrop (Mac users)

  • Right-click the file → Share → AirDrop
  • Send to your iPad
  • Tap the file on your iPad → it opens in Procreate, the Procreate document will appear in your gallery

Option 2: Cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud)

  • Upload files from your computer
  • Open the cloud app on your iPad
  • Download files to your Files app
  • Then follow the iPad steps above (Import or tap to open)

Once your files are downloaded onto your iPad:

Step 1: Unzip the file

  • Go to your Files app
  • Find the downloaded .zip file
  • Tap it once to unzip
  • You’ll now see the actual Procreate files (e.g. .procreate, .brushset, swatches etc.), depending on what you purchased.

Step 2: Import into Procreate

  • Open Procreate
  • In the Gallery view, tap “Import” (top right)
  • Navigate to where your files are stored (usually Downloads in the Files App)
  • Tap the file, and it will automatically appear in your gallery, brush library or colour palette panel.
